Boat Rental Miami, Book Your Charter with BoatHire24

You want a boat rental Miami. We get it. Miami is all about sun, sea and showing off. But here is the thing: BoatHire24 is a marketplace for Marbella and the Costa del Sol, Spain. We do not list boats in Miami. What we do offer is the same style of luxury charter experience, but on the Mediterranean coast of southern Spain. If you are after a motor yacht, a catamaran or a RIB in Puerto Banús or Marbella, we have you covered. If you insist on Miami, you will need to look elsewhere. But if you are open to swapping South Beach for the Costa del Sol, keep reading.

This page exists because people search for "boat rental Miami" and end up here. We want to be honest with you. We cannot rent you a boat in Florida. But we can show you why a charter in Marbella might be a better fit for your next holiday. Think 320 days of sunshine a year, calm Mediterranean waters, and the glitz of Puerto Banús. No hurricanes, no jellyfish and no spring break crowds. Just a straight-up boat hire experience with a licensed skipper included.

Why You Might Be Looking for Boat Rental Miami

Miami is a global hub for yachting. You have Biscayne Bay, the Florida Keys and the Atlantic Ocean. It makes sense that you would search for boat rental Miami. But here is the catch: the Miami charter market is expensive, crowded and seasonal. A 40-foot motor yacht in Miami can cost from around EUR 1,500 for a half day in high season. Add fuel, tip and dockage fees, and the price climbs fast. Compare that to the Costa del Sol, where a similar boat in Puerto Banús starts at around EUR 1,200 for a half day, with fuel often included. The Mediterranean gives you more value for your money.

If you are planning a trip to Europe, you might as well combine a city break with a day on the water. Marbella is a 20-minute drive from Málaga airport, with direct flights from most European capitals. Miami requires a transatlantic flight. So unless you are already in the US, the Costa del Sol is closer and cheaper to reach.

We wrote a guide on Marbella vs Miami for yacht charters if you want the full comparison.

What You Get with Every BoatHire24 Charter

Every single booking through BoatHire24 includes a licensed skipper. You do not need a boating licence. You do not need to navigate or dock. You just show up, relax and enjoy. The skipper handles the route, the anchorage and the safety briefing. This is standard across all our boats, from a 6-metre RIB to a 40-metre superyacht.

Most charters also include fuel, insurance and basic safety equipment. Some include a cooler with ice, snorkelling gear or paddleboards. Check the listing details for each boat. What is never included is food and drinks, unless you book a catering package. You can bring your own or order from a local caterer. We recommend a picnic from a deli in Marbella old town or fresh seafood from a chiringuito on the beach.

You can browse all our available boats on the search page.

Ports You Can Depart From

We operate from six ports on the Costa del Sol. Each has its own character and proximity to attractions.

Puerto Banús is the most famous. It is the marina of the rich and famous, packed with superyachts, designer boutiques and champagne bars. Depart from here and you are minutes from the sea. The port is in the heart of Nueva Andalucía, close to Marbella centre.

Marbella Marina (Puerto Deportivo) is smaller and more laid-back. It sits right on the Marbella promenade, near the old town. Good for a relaxed day out without the glitz of Banús.

Cabopino is a quiet marina between Marbella and Fuengirola. It has a sandy beach and a dune reserve. Ideal for families or couples who want a peaceful start to the day.

Estepona port is west of Marbella, near the charming old town with its flower-filled streets. The marina is modern and well-equipped.

Sotogrande is the most exclusive residential area, with a marina that feels like a private club. It is closer to Gibraltar, so you can spot dolphins on the way out.

Benalmádena is east of Marbella, near Torremolinos. It is a busy marina with plenty of bars and restaurants. Good for a party vibe.

Boat Types Available

We list motor yachts from 30 to 80 feet. These are the classic choice for cruising the coast. You get speed, comfort and a sun deck. A 40-foot motor yacht sleeps 10 to 12 guests for day charters. Prices start from around EUR 1,200 for a half day in low season.

Catamarans are more stable and spacious. They are popular for groups and families because the deck space is bigger. A 40-foot catamaran can take up to 12 guests. Prices start from around EUR 1,500 for a half day.

Sailing yachts are for those who want the authentic experience. You can help with the sails or just lie back. A 36-foot sailing yacht starts at around EUR 800 for a half day.

RIBs and speedboats are faster and more agile. They are good for a thrill ride or a quick trip to a beach club. A 6-metre RIB with a 150hp engine starts at around EUR 400 for 2 hours.

Fishing boats are equipped for deep-sea fishing. You can catch tuna, dorado and sea bass. Prices start from around EUR 600 for a half day.

Licence-free day boats are small powerboats you can drive without a licence. They are limited to 4 metres and 15hp. Perfect for a lazy day in a bay. Prices start at around EUR 200 for a half day.

Superyachts are available on request. If you want something over 24 metres, contact us for a quote.

Pricing Guidance

We do not list exact prices for every boat because they change with season and availability. But here is a rough guide for a half-day charter (4 hours) in low season (April to June and September to October).

Motor yacht 30-40 feet: from EUR 1,200. Motor yacht 50-60 feet: from EUR 2,500. Catamaran 40 feet: from EUR 1,500. Sailing yacht 36 feet: from EUR 800. RIB 6 metres: from EUR 400. Licence-free day boat: from EUR 200. Fishing boat: from EUR 600.

High season (July and August) prices are 20 to 40 percent higher. Full-day charters (8 hours) are usually 1.5 times the half-day rate. Overnight charters are priced individually.

Fuel is included in most cases, but check the listing. Some larger yachts charge fuel separately based on hours used. Gratuity for the skipper is not included. Standard is 10 to 15 percent of the charter fee.

You can find more detail in our guide to yacht charter prices in Marbella.

Best Time to Charter a Boat on the Costa del Sol

The season runs from April to October. July and August are the busiest and hottest, with temperatures hitting 35 degrees C. The sea is warm at 24 to 26 degrees C. If you want to avoid the crowds, book in May, June or September. The weather is still good, with highs of 28 degrees C and fewer people on the water.

Winter charters are possible but less common. From November to March, temperatures drop to 15 to 20 degrees C. The sea is colder. Some boats still operate, especially for fishing or whale watching. You will get lower prices but fewer options.

If you are coming from Miami, you will find the Mediterranean milder. No humidity, no afternoon thunderstorms. Just consistent sun.

How to Book a Boat Rental on BoatHire24

Go to the search page and select your port, date and number of guests. You can filter by boat type, price range and amenities. Each listing shows photos, a description, a price and the skipper's details. You book directly online with a deposit. The balance is paid on the day.

We recommend booking at least two weeks in advance during high season. Last-minute bookings are possible but limited. If you have a specific boat in mind, contact the owner through the listing page. They will confirm availability and answer any questions.

We do not charge a booking fee. The price you see is the price you pay. Cancellation policies vary by owner. Most offer a full refund if you cancel 48 hours before departure.

If you need help choosing a boat, call us or email. We are based in Marbella and know the local fleet.

Who Should Book a Boat Rental on the Costa del Sol

This is for anyone who wants a day on the water without the hassle of owning a boat. Families with kids will love the shallow bays and calm waters. Couples can charter a sailing yacht for a romantic sunset cruise. Groups of friends can party on a motor yacht with a sound system. Corporate groups can host a meeting or a networking event on a catamaran.

It is also for people who appreciate local colour. You can anchor near the Cala del Faro, a cove with a lighthouse. You can cruise along the coast to see the La Concha mountain from the sea. You can stop for lunch at a chiringuito on the beach. You can even take a trip to the Strait of Gibraltar to watch dolphins and whales.

If you are a fisherman, our fishing boats are equipped with rods, bait and a skipper who knows the best spots. If you are a diver, you can combine a charter with a visit to the Nerja caves or the marine reserve at Cabo de Gata.

And if you are still thinking about Miami, consider this: a day on the Costa del Sol costs less, has better weather and offers a more authentic European experience. You can fly into Málaga, spend a day on a yacht, then explore the Andalusian countryside. That is a holiday you cannot get in Florida.

We have a blog post on why the Costa del Sol beats Miami for a boat charter if you need more convincing.

Frequently Asked Questions about Boat Rental Miami and Costa del Sol

How the Costa del Sol Compares to Miami in Terms of Mooring and Anchoring

One practical difference between a boat rental in Miami and one on the Costa del Sol is what you can do once you are on the water. In Miami, anchoring in Biscayne Bay is restricted in many areas, and you often need to book a mooring ball at a state park or pay for a dock at a beach club. On the Costa del Sol, you can anchor freely in most coves and bays, as long as you stay clear of swimming zones and protected areas. The water is calm and clear, especially in the morning before the wind picks up. You can drop anchor near the Cala del Faro, a small cove with a lighthouse just west of Marbella, and swim in water that is often 25 degrees C in summer. No reservation needed. No extra fee. That freedom is a big part of the appeal.

Specific Day Trips You Can Do from Each Port

Each departure port gives you access to different itineraries. From Puerto Banús, you can cruise east to Marbella's coastline in 20 minutes, passing the luxury villas of the Golden Mile, or head west to the sandbanks of the Río Verde estuary, where you can anchor for a swim. From Marbella Marina, you are closer to the old town, so you can combine a morning charter with a walk through the orange-tree-lined streets and a tapas lunch. From Cabopino, you can reach the dunes of Artola in 10 minutes, a protected natural area with a beach that is rarely crowded. From Estepona, you can sail to the Strait of Gibraltar in about an hour, where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean and you can spot common dolphins, striped dolphins and even pilot whales. From Sotogrande, you are 15 minutes from the Guadiaro river mouth, a quiet spot for birdwatching. From Benalmádena, you can head to the marina at Fuengirola or the castle at Colomares. These are real options that a Miami charter cannot match without a longer run.

Why the Weather on the Costa del Sol Is More Reliable for a Day Charter

Miami has a subtropical climate with a distinct wet season from May to October. Afternoon thunderstorms are common, and the humidity can make a day on the water uncomfortable even when the sun is out. The Costa del Sol has a Mediterranean climate with low humidity and over 300 sunny days a year. Rain is rare from April to October. The wind is predictable: a light sea breeze from the south-west in the morning, picking up to 10-15 knots by midday, then dropping again in the evening. This pattern is ideal for sailing or motor cruising. You do not get the sudden squalls that can hit Biscayne Bay. If you are comparing a boat rental in Miami to one here, the weather alone is a strong argument for the Spanish coast.

Hidden Costs in Miami That You Avoid on the Costa del Sol

When you search for boat rental Miami, the headline price often excludes fuel, dockage, cleaning fees and the crew gratuity. In Miami, fuel surcharges can add 20 to 30 percent to the total, especially for a motor yacht that burns 100 litres an hour. On the Costa del Sol, most BoatHire24 charters include fuel for a standard itinerary. Dockage at a beach club or restaurant is usually covered by the skipper, who knows the local spots. Cleaning fees are rare. The gratuity is still expected, but it is a straightforward 10 to 15 percent of the charter fee, not a separate line item. If you are on a budget, the Costa del Sol gives you a clearer picture of the final cost from the start.

How the Local Food Scene Enhances a Day Charter

One thing you miss with a boat rental in Miami is the ability to stop at a chiringuito for fresh grilled fish. These beachside restaurants are scattered along the Costa del Sol coastline, and many have a dinghy dock or a shallow beach where you can anchor and wade ashore. You can order espetos (sardines grilled on a stick), fried anchovies or a whole dorada, with a cold beer or a glass of fino. The price is reasonable: around EUR 15 to 25 per person for a full meal. In Miami, a lunch stop at a beach club can cost double that, and you are often required to buy a minimum of food and drinks. The local food culture here is informal, authentic and affordable. It is a reason to choose the Costa del Sol over Miami for a day on the water.

What to Do If You Cannot Find a Boat Rental in Miami That Fits Your Budget

If you have been looking at boat rental Miami options and the prices are too high, or the availability is too tight, consider shifting your trip to the Costa del Sol. The flight from the US east coast to Málaga is around 8 hours, similar to flying to Miami from Europe. The cost of living in Spain is lower, so your money goes further on accommodation, food and activities. A week in Marbella with two days on a yacht can cost less than a long weekend in Miami with one day on a boat. You also get the bonus of exploring a different culture, with the Alhambra in Granada, the white villages of Ronda and the beaches of Tarifa all within a two-hour drive. The BoatHire24 team can help you plan the whole trip, from airport transfer to the final sunset cruise.
